Culture in Tibet
Buddhism plays a key role in the culture of Tibet. The most common Tibetan music is religious music that reflects the profound influences of Tibetan Buddhism. Tibet is home of the Potala Palace. It stands 117 meters high and 360 meters wide. it is formerly the residence of the Dalai Lama. It contains 1,000 rooms with in 13 stories. It also contains the portraits of all the past Dalai Lama's and a statue of Buddha. Another aspect of Tibetan culture that reflects Buddhism is Tangka's. Tangka's are Scroll paintings mounted on silk, usually depicting a Buddhist deity. This also is used as a teaching tool for Buddhist monks. Another visual representation of Tibetan culture is the wheel of Life. It is used for the teachings of Abhidhama.
U.S. Culture
Buddhism is the fourth largest belief set in the United states behind Christianity, Judaism, and non religion. Many are Asian Americans as well as a large amount of converts. Buddhism didn't come to America until around 1849 due to the California Gold Rush. After that Buddhism has been increasing.
