Buddhist Daily Life
Depending on how strict of a life a Buddhist is living decides how their life looks like, especially in their daily lives. Someone who is a more 'strict' Buddhist is known to govern themselves by strict rules and the ideal person who does so is usually known to be more inflexible with ways of life. There are hundreds of rules that are to be followed that range from diets to hours of sleep. These rules are known as the Vinaya, which retain high importance. The five basic precepts are not to kill, not to steal, don't engage in sexual misconduct, don't lie and don't drink intoxicants, which are known as Shila.
Others, such as monks, are known to also be strict in their religion. Monks in the Theravada (southern) Buddhist countries are known to wear the generalized orange robes, and have shaved heads and be bare foot. Their life consists of meditation, study and work, some sleep, and sometimes even one meal a day. They usually don't own much of anything if anything at all, and they also help out with lay people and ceremonies. Ordinations, or orders of monks or nuns in Buddhism are called Sangha. It means "assembly" or "association".
